Cottars 1920's Camp
Conservation area in South East Masai Mara
As shown in Architectural Digest, Cottar’s harkens back to the era of romance, elegance and adventure. As the first safari camp in Kenya started by Calvin Cottar it is still family run by his great grandson, Calvin Cottar. Cottar’s is the winner of Best Tented Camp in the world by Tatlers, Harpers and Queens’ Magazines.

Richard’s Camp consists of just seven tents with en suite bathrooms, flushing toilets and hot showers in traditional African style, but furnished with modern luxury. Evenings begin with cocktails by the campfire, followed by a three-course meal under a canopy of stars. At the end of the day guests can indulge in a Victorian bath tucked away in the forest, surrounded by flickering candles and the sounds of the bush.
Day and night game drives, bush walks, a visit to a local village and a day trip to Lake Victoria for trout fishing can all be arranged. Richard grew up here from the age of three.

Sabuk remains a family home with five guest cottages that are open fronted, with hand carved furniture, en suite bathrooms and stone bath tubs with amazing views. Children are welcome with baby “look out” service. There are camel assisted walking safaris-walk or ride-tailor made to suite all guests, along with night game drives, horse riding, bush breakfasts, line fishing, and evening sundowners overlooking a favorite watering hole for elephants.
